Why I’m running for Sheriff Chip Bryant
Many of the reasons I’m running for Bradley County Sheriff can be summed up by a quotation by Thomas Jefferson. He said, “I hope our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us, that the less we use our power the greater it will be.”
I’m running for Sheriff because I feel that government should use the least amount of influence on its citizens. The sheriff must be constantly aware of the necessity to protect Constitutional liberties. My hope as Sheriff would be to work to correct or abolish all forms of injustice. True public servants won’t use or abuse positions of trust or use their influence in government to serve selfish needs.
Through more than 50 years of life I have learned great reverence for personal liberty and freedom. I will daily ensure that I never use my position to exercise injustice over someone else. I will strive to protect people from others attempting to exercise injustices over them.
Every individual is important and has God-given rights. Our sheriff’s office was established to protect those rights. My position as sheriff will be to help stop abuses. Our government was established to protect the fundamental rights of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” In my view these three rights are the sole purposes of law enforcement.
I respect law enforcement because it is the front lines in the fight for freedom, for protection against oppression either by government or from criminals. I have a desire to serve others and in the capacity of Sheriff I can express my love for this community. I feel there is no better way for me to do this, than as Bradley County’s sheriff.

Your sheriff should be accomplished, accountable, and approachable. Through the blessing of God am accomplished in my field and the only candidate who has been Captain of both the Patrol and Detective Divisions. I am the only candidate who has been an administrator at the Drug Task Force as well as the Sheriff’s Office. I am the only one who has been Director of Training and Director of the Budget. I will be accountable to you by enacting a code of ethics for all personnel and myself. I will hold open meetings. I will give you a regular report containing all matters which concern you. The sheriff’s badge is your badge. It does not belong to just one person. I will not hide behind your badge. I will be approachable. I will continue to pay for my personal cell phone and keep it available to you (715-3395). This is not just a campaign promise, but it is a way of life for me. Running for sheriff did not change me and being your sheriff will not change me. I ask for your vote.
